Ryan Lowe and Steven Schumacher eyeing Wayne Rooney situation at Plymouth Argyle
Ryan Lowe and Steven Schuamcher, two former Plymouth Argyle managers, are eager to rejoin their former team.
In light of rumours about Wayne Rooney’s future, Alan Nixon claims that both managers are monitoring the circumstances at Home Park.
Although Rooney was appointed during the summer, his previous managing position in the Championship at Birmingham was a complete failure.
Due to this, despite having only managed 15 games during his tenure with the Blues, the 38-year-old is now under pressure to produce results right now.
However, he should feel less pressure on his position heading into the October international break after a 2-1 victory over Blackburn Rovers on Saturday afternoon.

Steven Schumacher and Ryan Lowe eye Plymouth return
Lowe watched the club’s thrilling 2-1 victory over Blackburn on Saturday, as Rooney’s men overcame a deficit to secure a crucial three points.
The 46-year-old was in the director’s box, and Schumacher was also there at the game with the scouts. Rooney was given a red card, and the game ended with him being sent to the stands.
Michael Obafemi and Morgan Whittaker’s goals sealed the win, moving the Pilgrims up to 14th in the Championship standings.
With nine games played, Rooney’s team has amassed 11 points, good for four points above the relegation zone.

Plymouth Argyle: Wayne Rooney reacts to signing ex-Burnley striker Andre Gray
Wayne Rooney is thrilled to have the opportunity to collaborate with Andre Grey at Plymouth Argyle.
Within the first fifteen minutes, Joe Rankin-Costello had equalised after Obafemi’s opening goal.
But late into stoppage time, Whittaker found a way to win the game for the hosts, and both Lowe and Schumacher were present to witness the joyful emotions.
Both Lowe and Schumacher are currently unemployed; the former left Preston North End in August, while the latter was fired by Stoke City in September.
While Lowe had been in command at Deepdale since December 2021, Schumacher led Plymouth to Championship promotion in 2023 before moving to Stoke last December.
Ryan Lowe and Steven Schumacher’s Plymouth record
After taking over 128 games for the Pilgrims in June 2019, Lowe left to take over at Preston.
Under the former Preston manager, the team was promoted to League One; Schumacher took over for him once he joined the Lancashire team.
After Lowe left, the 40-year-old was elevated from assistant manager to head coach.
In his first season in command at Home Park, he led them to a seventh-place result; later, in 2023, they won League One.
Recent results have earned Rooney time at Plymouth
Rooney will undoubtedly stay with the team for a while longer after Plymouth won three of their last five games to escape the relegation zone.
He was under immediate pressure to perform because of the circumstances surrounding his appointment and the crushing 4-0 loss they suffered on opening day.
The fact that Lowe and Schumacher are available doesn’t help the situation, considering the accomplishments they have made while playing for the club.
However, there shouldn’t be any doubt about Rooney’s future with the Pilgrims if his squad can continue to produce strong results and avoid finishing in the bottom three.
